February.
The month
of love,
and as a wave
of faces, laughing, smiling,
flow into the bar.
It truly does feel
like love is in the air.
People congregated,
conversation circulated
in the bar area. it flowed.
like beer from a tap.
Roars of laughter explode,
not yaps of anger
or words sent to corrode.
We collected tickets, made introductions.
Shared some more laughs and bonded.
This part of the night
is as important as the poetry.
It's where we all get to learn a bit
about ourselves and each other.
Helping to form
this special Get Mouthy family feel.
Then it was time to delve into the deep dark basement.
We ventured into the depths of our hearts,
lights dimmed, and we pulled out word flowers.
Which would take on a life of their own.
Grow arms to hug you,
faces to smile at the words they hear used.
Ears to listen to every
tone shift, lyrical gift that drifts
into the atmosphere.
A week early,
due to the Leicester comedy festival,
but this didn't dull the vibe,
we had another great mixture
of new and old, tying to unite,
never divide. Words were respected,
given light,
not hidden away,
derided and out of sight.
We had a good mix,
of light and dark.
Heavy and playful,
sad and uplifting.
and that was just me...
and the seagulls.
Our headline act Na-Keisha
blew everyone away,
A stunning set by someone
who is getting better each day,
look forward to seeing the future
where Na-Keisha will truly slay.
A world of poetry and word play,
another wonderful way
to bring some magic into a day,
So, we thank everyone that took the stage,
Got their words out and said,
"Hear what I have to say"
And we thank the audience,
for giving those words life,
Instead of letting them float away,
You took them in now they live within,
Wherever your head may lay.
A massive thank you to you all
and to Big Difference for the hospitality,
we couldnt do this without you all.
