Regular readers will know that
updates have been a bit lax
over the past few months.
I have been having some
health issues which put me
in hospital few months.
But now it's 2025
and get mouthy
is back to full strength,
with a new team member to introduce
and a whole year of great poetry
to bring to you.
And as always, I'm gonna attempt this
in the form of a poem,
because I love
giving myself
extra work to do!
Cold and frosty eve,
the new year’s bells weave
into faint echoes of the past.
Get Mouthy is back at last
and what a show,
unlike the snow
which was a no-show.
As we warmed our hands and feet
the air filled with excited speech.
Drinks were sipped.
Friends did greet
and tell tales about
their previous weeks.
New faces wandered in,
nervous looking,
but soon we made
them a part of the family.
As the clock tick tocked
ever closer to 8 o'clock,
the energy started to peak,
the atmosphere bubbling
like a stew gathering flavours
and mixing them
into a masterful blend.
The time came
to take the stairs
to our little domain.
Barely a seat was empty,
all gazing up at the faces
bathed in the lights of the stage.
We had rhyme aplenty,
songs about bikes,
yes, multiple songs about bikes!
We had Italian poetry
spoken on our mic.
Our headline act Abi
Gave us tales of house, home and adventure
took us to Milan via Leicester.
Picture perfect words
played out her memories
told through sublime imagery.
Every performer gave us
something unique,
their own turns of phrase used,
their own stories for us to walk through.
A joyous celebration
of words grew around us,
laughter mixed perfectly with sadness.
Smiles sat holding onto tears.
A perfect start to a year.
Our hosts Carolina and Kerry
each gave a unique blend
to their halves of the night.
The energy was dynamite,
and as the show ended
we ventured off into the moonlight.
Alas, still no snow in sight.
Peace, Love & Poetry
Goodnight.
