Happy Christmas

These past few months have been epic

Six (7 including Hockley hustle) shows down,

And I personally feel they have been brilliant,

every month offering something special and unique.

When we started this, I said I wanted

somewhere we can make people feel comfortable, give new people a chance,

encouragement and a non-judgemental place to share their work.

I also wanted to bring people together, help form more bonds in the poetry community,

with other poets and other nights. And so far, I think this has been a massive success.

I’m not always the most talkative person in real life

(I struggle with anxiety and shyness etc,

but it is all so heartwarming to be a part of)

And every month we are getting

So many new faces already,

People that are just starting, they are in for such a great time

with the sheer amount of awesome poets

and performers we have across the midlands!

Ever since we started this,

we have had a blast.

all of the beautiful people

that have shared our stage

and all who came to support us

Then sometimes ended up on the stage anyway!

I want to thank every one of you, especially those that have spread the word,

and shared our nights. Those that have helped with donations

(These are essential If we are to keep bringing quality headliners,

and not a penny goes to anything other than the headliners)

A massive thank you all of the headliners,

Nancy Dawkins, Cathi Rae, Ellie Spirrett,

Carolyn Turner, Chris Oliver, Nakesha

every single one of you has blown me away

and im really glad some new people got to hear your work.

a big thanks to the audience, cos you make it, without people listening

it would just be people randomly shouting in a basement,

and i know im known for

my horror writing but im not gonna go there!!

To big difference.

Always making us feel welcome

and giving us this amazing space.

and of course to Carolina for all of her hard work, the amazing videos,

being a much better presenter than i could,

also bringing colour when i mostly just wear black!

It has been really special,

being able to share these nights with you all.

The headliners that we have

somehow been able to entice

to our humble little night

have blown me away

with their beautiful use of language, their performances,

and just all-round brilliance.

I bow to thee, then I moan that my back aches

and that I'm getting too old for this shit.

And so, into a new year

we start to ramble,

Ambling into the unknown.

a slow walk as

these legs are not what they were.

But some things will be sure.

Get Mouthy will be back every month.

to provide a place to let your words flow.

And I'll always be sat there

in the front row cheering you on.

To Those who celebrate. Happy Christmas.

To everyone else I just wish good times and love.

And to a fantastic new year.

(Hope you enjoyed/enjoy the books!)

See you all in January (or some of you probably friday for Some-Antics)

Get Mouthy 6

December is here,

So, we thought we would bring

The Christmas cheer,

So as sleigh bells

jingle and jangle, we amble into the room.

Our little grotto of words.

Christmas tunes ring through the air,

smiles and chat are shared.

Gifts are given. The lights dimmed.

Now let us have the real presents.

The words are unwrapped slowly.

A majestic piece at a time,

Like little kisses under the mistletoe

Sips of fine wine.

A mince pie or two

of comedy to aid the digestion

Of this festive meal

That we are entertaining.

The snow doesn't fall indoors

But words litter the floor,

like a fine dusting,

Crunching underfoot.

As Carolina takes the stage

in festive red dress

To introduce the wonderful poets

that ventured in from the wintery cold

to our little wonderland stage.

Under the colourful lights some performed

from memory others from the page

We had so many styles and faces,

There was no silent night

It was a vibrant delight of words taking flight

Like Santa’s sleigh bustling with gifts

through the December sky.

Tears were cried. smiles painted over faces,

Laughter erupted; joy uncorrupted.

A flow of unadulterated brilliance.

Headliner Chris

the partridge

to our pear tree

Was the true centre piece

of the song,

one that shone

brighter than any star.

A mind-blowing performance

of wordplay perfection,

Deserved a standing ovation.

We had everything. A feast for the ears,

Then we were given even more.

Christmas pudding in the form

of a second half of open mic.

A true cracker of a night

Songs were sung

(Ellie brought the house down)

It was all so much fun.

I think I'm done

Like a turkey cooked too long.

Now I need to relax, rest and recuperate.

See you all in January

when we return

with more amazing poetry.

 Thank you all

Peace, Love & Poetry

Kyle
